Paul Furey

Paul started professional life as an officer in the armed forces and went on to work as a consultant specialising in worker skills development at Alexander Proudfoot (now Proudfoot Consulting). He joined Sheraton Hotels in 1988, kick-starting their UK training and development activities before founding the first manifestation of PEC Ltd in 1989.
Paul works with key people, groups and organisations to develop the high level emotional and communication skills required of them as people, managers and leaders. Paul has also delivered papers to the 1st Conference in Coaching Psychology, to the Department of Applied Social Psychology at Oxford University and is invited to speak regularly for CPI Experiences, amongst others.
Paul has a BSc. (Hons) in Psychology from UEL and a PhD. in Applied Social Psychology from Brunel University. Paul is a registered Psychologist with the British Psychological Society (BPS), a member of the BPS Special Coaching Group, the European Mentoring and Coaching Council (EMCC) and the Institute of Directors (IOD).
He is married to a musician and has two young daughters. His spare time is spent with his family, two Scottish Deerhounds and 100,000 bees.

Claire Mills

Claire joined PEC Ltd in 2007 to work with Paul and the team on the continued growth and development of the company and to manage the day-to-day running of the office.
Claire has had a varied career with roles to date including operations management and training within financial services, learning and development consultancy for the creative industries and business development in the not-for-profit sector.
Claire has an educational background in the arts and is now studying part-time for an MSc in Business Psychology. In her free time, Claire enjoys seeing family and friends and trying to make her gym membership worthwhile.

Nigel Wood

Nigel spent six years with London Underground running a busy personnel office responsible for over 900 employees before going on to run a small consultancy, designing and delivering management development training.
As a qualified Occupational Psychologist and Coach, Nigel has over 14 years experience in the field of people development. He is also an Assessor and Internal Verifier for the Chartered Management Institute (CMI).
Nigel’s two core areas of expertise are: helping people improve their interpersonal skills, so that they can get more out of important relationships; and helping people get focused and motivated through greater self-awareness, so that they can get more out of life. His methodology and approach can be described as client-centred and is based on open and honest feedback.
In his spare time, Nigel values time with friends and family – especially his three nieces. He enjoys cooking and discovering delicious new desserts to make. Nigel is currently working his way through a list of far-flung countries to visit.

Lorna Phillips

Lorna’s career began in marketing, with roles initially in the travel industry and then within marketing management for local government. Lorna made a career change and re-trained as a Coach with Dr. Paul Furey and PEC Ltd.
Lorna has a BSc in Social Psychology from Loughborough University, achieved the CIM Advanced Certificate of Marketing (Cambridge Regional College) and has an MSc in Organisational Psychology and Business from Aston University. She is registered with the British Psychological Society and is working towards Chartership.
Lorna is strongly influenced by Humanistic Psychology with regard to the respecting of the client, their innate problem solving capabilities and their ability to be creative and to be motivated towards personal growth.
Outside of work, Lorna enjoys spending time with family and friends and loves traveling abroad and experiencing different cultures. She has a passion for collecting antiques and curios and loves a good bargain!

Joan Staples

Joan has had many years’ experience of working with personal and relationship therapy, career and professional development counselling, stress and work/life balance coaching, leadership and interactive skills training.
Joan is an Associate Fellow of the British Psychological Society and a Chartered Occupational and Counselling Psychologist.
She uses modern, researched models and the therapeutic relationship to shape change and support problem resolution for her clients.
Joan is known for her kindly yet challenging work with people from all walks and experiences of life who have used her services over the past twenty years.
